WSP are currently seeking a Senior Hydraulic Modelling Engineer to support a major stormwater management project in Jeddah. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a strong background in civil engineering, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, and flood risk management to play a pivotal role in delivering high-profile infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze stormwater and flood management models using industry-standard software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE FLOOD, TUFLOW, and Civil 3D.
- Perform rainfall-runoff simulations, floodplain mapping, and flow analysis for stormwater drainage systems.
- Design key infrastructure components, including stormwater networks, retention basins, culverts, and flood mitigation measures.
- Evaluate system performance and propose innovative, cost-effective design enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with Saudi Arabian regulations, environmental standards, and international best practices.
- Support permitting and approval processes with relevant authorities.
- Integrate hydraulic models with GIS tools for comprehensive spatial analysis and visualization.
- Analyze topographic, meteorological, and hydrological data to improve model precision.
- Identify flood risks and develop sustainable strategies to reduce community and infrastructure vulnerability.
- Conduct climate resilience assessments for long-term stormwater infrastructure planning.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, environmental consultants, and multidisciplinary design teams.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, design documentation, and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulics, or Water Resources Engineering.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in hydraulic modelling, stormwater drainage, and flood risk management.
- Experience in stormwater infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in modelling software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE FLOOD, TUFLOW, and Civil 3D.
- Strong skills in GIS-based hydrological mapping and spatial analysis.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and governmental entities.
- Fluency in English is essential; Arabic proficiency is an added advantage.
