Parsons are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer – Water / Wet Utilities to lead the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and project management skills to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Design
- Lead the design and development of water and wet utility systems in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure accurate project design and scope.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and risk analysis to identify optimal project solutions.
Project Execution & Management
- Oversee project implementation, managing timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful delivery.
- Ensure construction, operation, and maintenance activities align with project specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure efficient and safe project execution.
Regulatory Compliance & Permitting
- Ensure all projects adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Obtain necessary permits and approvals from relevant authorities.
- Monitor project adherence to environmental and quality standards to mitigate risks.
Cost Control & Budget Management
- Develop project budgets, including cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Track and manage project costs to prevent budget overruns.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage and mentor project teams, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and team members.

Quality Assurance & Control
- Implement quality control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct inspections and testing to ensure compliance with required standards and specifications.
- Address and resolve any quality-related issues.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular project updates to senior management, clients, and key stakeholders.
- Prepare and present reports detailing project progress, challenges, and risks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their expectations are met.
Risk Management
- Identify potential project risks related to design, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols to minimize on-site risks.
Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship
- Incorporate sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact.
- Advocate for energy-efficient systems and technologies that align with sustainability goals.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, PE) is preferred.
- Experience:
- 5–7 years of experience in water/wet utilities engineering, with a strong focus on project management.
- Proven experience in the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations.
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in water treatment, wastewater systems, and wet utilities infrastructure.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET).
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PE (Professional Engineer).
- Experience in sustainable water and wastewater management practices.
- Familiarity with international water and wastewater regulations.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and international stakeholders.
- Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and hydraulic modeling tools.
