Parsons are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer – Water & Wet Utilities to lead the planning, design, and execution of critical water and wastewater projects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory standards while delivering high-quality, sustainable infrastructure solutions on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Design:
- Lead the planning, design, and development of water and wet utility systems in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to define project scope and objectives.
- Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and risk analyses to determine optimal project solutions.
Project Execution & Management:
- Oversee project implementation, managing timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure seamless execution.
- Supervise the construction, operation, and maintenance of water and wet utilities.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure project efficiency and safety.
Regulatory Compliance & Permitting:
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Secure necessary permits and approvals to facilitate project execution.
- Monitor adherence to environmental and quality standards, mitigating potential risks and liabilities.
Budget & Cost Control:
- Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimation for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Track project expenditures, addressing any budget deviations proactively.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve cost-effective yet high-quality solutions.
Leadership & Team Collaboration:
- Lead project teams, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
- Promote an environment of innovation and problem-solving.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management:
- Implement rigorous quality control measures throughout project design, construction, and maintenance.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and reviews to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address project challenges.
Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:
- Provide regular project status updates to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on project progress, challenges, and risks.
- Serve as the primary client contact, ensuring project expectations are met.
Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship:
- Integrate sustainable practices into project design and execution.
- Advise on energy-efficient and environmentally responsible water and wastewater solutions.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) preferred.
Experience:
- 5–7 years of experience in water and wet utilities engineering, with a focus on project management.
- Proven expertise in the planning, design, and execution of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of environmental and safety regulations.
Technical & Professional Skills:
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, EPANET).
- In-depth knowledge of water treatment, wastewater systems, and wet utilities infrastructure.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing water and wastewater systems.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or PE (Professional Engineer) certification.
- Experience with sustainable water and wastewater management practices.
- Knowledge of international water and wastewater regulations.
- Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and hydraulic modeling tools.
